The Prince of Wales Suite is the Churchill Hotel's grandest bedroom, the room being named after the Prince of Wales (HRH King Edward VII) who stayed in this room on a visit to York in July 1898.
The room is fantastically situated in the Georgian bay window of the mansion, on the first floor, overlooking the front lawn. This bedroom is the culmination of the hotel's extensive refurbishment programme and fittingly it is in this bedroom that the contrast between period and contemporary design is at it's greatest. High ceilings, magnificent bay windows, the period half tester bed and similarly aged wardrobe are met with Kartell lamps and chairs, LCD televisions, a modern bespoke sofa and that magnificent copper and tin bath. This eclectic mix of furnishings genuinely recaptures the grandeur of what was this house's master bedroom, the old and new never clash or collide, they simply complement one another resulting in a bedroom far greater than the sum of it's parts and one that will never fail to amaze or impress.
This bedroom needs little else to promote it and our usual bed and breakfast and half board rates are bookable online. However, to really do the bedroom justice, we offer a range of packages to enhance your stay in this room, we can arrange for full waitress service at both breakfast and dinner to your private table in the bay window overlooking the grounds below, we can arrange transfers in the hotel's Bentley and, being the Churchill, of course we would also suggest arranging to have some Pol Roger champagne put on ice . For these enhanced packages please contact us directly on 01904 644456 to discuss your requirements further.
